With the highest per capita rate of enlistment and the lowest VA funding in the country, it’s no wonder many of Guam’s veterans find themselves lost between the battlefield and home. Take the case of Raymond Shinohara, who joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. Like many vets before him, Shinohara experienced a particularly rough transition after leaving the marines in 2014. “I joined as a duty to my country and my island,” he said.
