The State of the Media and Why Broadcast is Still King

As its slogan says, KUAM is first on Guam. It signed onto the airwaves as the first commercial radio station at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 1954, exactly five minutes after the Armed Forces public radio station signed off the air for good. KUAM-TV followed two years later with its first broadcast on August 5, 1956. As another familiar saying goes, “They’ve come a long way, baby.”
